The website of the Federation of Municipalities of the Region of Murcia is designed to serve as a central hub for communication and services for the region’s local governments, integrating institutional information, news, and technical resources within a single digital environment. The design follows a clear and functional approach, supported by an institutional aesthetic featuring shades of blue, ample white space, and a modular system of components that facilitates content organization. The visual structure and typographic choices prioritize readability and accessibility, aligning with public sector standards.

The challenge of making sense of institutional complexity

The main challenge was to manage a large volume of diverse information—services, news, projects, and technical documentation—targeted at a wide range of audiences, from municipal technicians to the general public. It was necessary to avoid cognitive overload without compromising the institution’s informative nature, while maintaining intuitive and familiar navigation. Additionally, the goal was to convey credibility and transparency—two key values in institutional settings—without resorting to a rigid or hard-to-navigate interface.

A visual system designed for clarity

The solution takes the form of a clear, scalable interface based on the use of modular components—particularly cards and content containers—which allow information to be structured in a visually organized and easily digestible way. The typographic hierarchy and consistent use of color reinforce progressive reading, while navigation maintains recognizable patterns to ensure a seamless experience. The result is a platform that strikes a balance between institutional communication and access to information, improving content comprehension, reducing friction in navigation, and reinforcing the perception of professionalism and trust.
